Don't Be So Emotional...
My golden rule to success: *ahem*
In order to be successful at any company - regardless of the industry, service, size, location, etc. - you must have some sort of personal and emotional attachment to the brand.
That's it. Chris out. Goodnight everybody.
But seriously, that's been my guiding light since day 1 and the reason why I've been able to succeed in each of my roles.
Think about it. If you've ever come out to your car just to notice a giant dent in the side, you've probably felt a little hurt and even personally victimized. The car still runs and the dent "isn't that bad," but it's still your baby.
Or maybe you found yourself shedding a tear or two in a theater because she doesn't remember the love of her life and all he can do is share the memories from a notebook as she slowly passes before our eyes!!! ...No? Only me?! Ok.
Or gamers, we've all seen videos of you going full-blown Super Saiyan and smashing a television or two when you're defeated by some crap-talking 12 year old or worse, when mom calls you up for dinner.
The point is, we feel those feels because we've developed an emotional attachment to that thing we've invested (time, money, our grasp on reality) in. By taking that energy and putting it into my work, I've been able to succeed because I've personally wanted my brands to succeed and celebrate the wins, but also feel the sting of the downs. And for the record, I hate bees.
